Energy and Electron Transfer

Efficient thermionic emission energy harvesting is a challenging problem that scientists and engineers have pondered for decades. We are exploring innovative methods of optimizing thermionic energy converters including integration of advanced materials and use of standard semiconductor processing, as well as looking into novel conversion concepts like photon-enhanced thermionic emission. More efficient thermal energy conversion will be a powerful tool in accessing currently wasted heat sources, and thus will greatly contribute to our energy landscape.
